Six Flags Unofficial Guide
New for 2011: Green Lantern - a standing, twisting, 15 story steel coaster promising smooth but white-knuckled thrills!
Six Flags New Jersey, also known as Six Flags Great Adventure, is located in Jackson, New Jersey, near Philadelphia, PA. Since opening in 1974, Six Flags New Jersey has been a popular family destination for New Yorkers, Philadelphians, and residents from all over New England.
Six Flags New Jersey is comprised of 3 parks - Great Adventure, Wild Safari, and Hurricane Harbor. Great Adventure is home to 11 themed areas, 4 of which are targeted for younger children. Wild Safari features a 4.5 mile auto trail through exotic animal enclosures and allows guests to interact with conservation efforts. Featured animals include bears, giraffes, elephants, rhinoceros, lions, and kangaroos. Hurricane Harbor is a 45 acre water park adjacent to Great Adventure and is a popular destination in the hot summer months. Hurricane Harbor opens later in the season than Great Adventure due to weather. For all opening dates and gate admission prices, see Sixflags.
Six Flags New Jersey is home to over 50 rides, 11 of which are labeled as "Max thrills". These rides are what the true adventurer sets out to tackle. All of these rides have height restrictions as they are not appropriate for young children.
