Six Flags Unofficial Guide
Six Flags theme parks offer family thrills and entertainment throughout the U.S. during the summer months. Six Flags Magic Mountain is a roller-coaster filled theme park located in Valencia, California. Founded in 1971, this park aims to offer something for everyone, from thrill rides to family attractions that anyone can enjoy. Six Flags Magic Mountain features 17 roller coasters (18 with the 2011 season) and 5 water rides on 260 acres in sunny Southern California. SixFlags MagicMountain was the first in the world to have a steel looping roller coaster in 1976. The temperate climate of the area allows the park to be open year-round, an advantage over other competing theme parks such as Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH. Six Flags weather

Six Flags MagicMountain is located in the family entertainment capital of California, making it convenient for family vacations. Located 1 hour from Disneyland, 30 minutes from Hollywood, 30 minutes to the beach at Santa Monica, and 2 and a half hours from the San Diego Zoo, including a stop here during your trip is relatively easy to do, although traffic in Southern California must be taken into consideration. Several hotels are located within a short distance from Six Flags in Valencia, see our list of suggested area hotels.
Visitors to the theme park may also wish to visit the adjacent Six Flags Hurricane Harbor water park for a little fun and relief from the Southern California sun. Combination admission passes are available to allow admission to both parks.
Although Six Flags Magic Mountain is rich with thrill rides, there are many attractions geared toward not-so-thrilling family entertainment. 25 rides designed for younger children reside in Bugs Bunny World and Thomas Town. Rides in Bugs Bunny World are themed after popular looney tunes characters, like Elmer Fudd, Foghorn Leghorn, and Tweety. Rides in Thomas Town are themed after popular Thomas the Tank Engine characters. Family rides such as water flume rides are also good options for non-thrill seekers. For our list of top 10 attractions see Six Flags Magic Mountain Rides.
New attractions planned to open in 2011 will make Six Flags Magic Mountain the roller coaster capitol of the world, reclaiming it's previously held title.
